NanoMosaic
What They Do
NanoMosaic’s unique research tools platform utilizes nanoneedles for protein detection and quantification to develop best-in-class assays for biomarker discovery and validation.
A nanoneedle is a novel physical structure that functions both as a capture substrate and as a detection device. NanoMosaic’s patented label-free nanoneedles can analyze proteins with much greater sensitivity, and across many orders of magnitude more dynamic range than current plate-based or bead-based approaches.
This proprietary technology enables rapid end-user customization for assay development for proteomic and/or nucleic acid content.
Why We Invested
While there has been great progress in the last few decades in understanding the genome to enable breakthroughs in therapeutics and diagnostics, current protein discovery technology is expensive and prohibits full-fledged proteome exploration.
NanoMosaic, using the novel MosaicNeedle technology, is poised to break down previous barriers and usher in the era of proteomics and eventually of multi-omics. This incredible advancement is actualized by the Tessie benchtop system. Tessie is adaptable to any lab, with label-free assays, simple user assay customization, and low per-protein cost, enabling far-reaching analysis of the proteome previously prohibited by high costs, extensive sample preparation, and high minimum sample volume. The most exciting and ground-breaking feature of the Tessie is its ability to provide over seven orders of Dynamic Range (DR) on one run. Existing competitors are restricted to three orders of DR, having to make the tradeoff on either the high or low end.
We believe Tessie meets the technical needs of nearly any lab and will become a staple in research institutions, CROs, biotechs, pharmas, and eventually, clinical environments.
